Those Victorians were fond of collecting some weird and wonderful things! Up and down the country you can see the results of their enthusiastic collecting crammed into museum cases. This month’s BBC History Magazine features 8 such attractions from around the UK, including our rather fine Bell Pettigrew Museum. The natural history collections on display, were founded in 1838, and now include over 3000 specimens of rare plants and animals from across the world.
The museums is only open to the public over the summer, so feel free to pop in on Tuesday and Friday afternoons throughout July and August.
